What is permanent cosmetics?
Permanent cosmetics, also known as Permanent Make-up, Cosmetic Tattooing or Micropigmentation is a procedure where pigment is implanted into the dermal layer of the skin to produce the lasting resemblance of makeup. The machine I use to achieve this is the Intelligent Machine by Nouveau Contour, an extremely safe, state-of-the-art machine using individual programming for the different areas of application ensuring the most professional results.
Who is permanent cosmetics suitable for?
Whether you have a busy lifestyle and have little time to apply make-up, if you’re sick of smudging eyeliner, or you just want to enhance and build upon your existing features permanent cosmetics is perfect for you! Eyebrow treatments are great for people who have over plucked in the past or suffered hair loss for any reason, as well as those who want symmetry and fullness added to their existing brows. Eye treatments are also beneficial for people who have suffered hair loss, or for stay-put eyeliner, or to just add some subtle definition to your eyes. Lip treatments are great for anyone who would like a more defined, symmetrical lip shape with a colour as subtle or dramatic as you desire blended throughout. As long as you are over 18 and medically fit for the treatment permanent cosmetics is suitable for you!
How long will it last?
Although there is no definitive answer to this question, permanent cosmetics typically last between 2 and 5 years. This varies between clients depending on skin type, maintenance and how well the pigment holds in your skin. Included in the price of the first treatment is a re-touch after 4-6 weeks to keep the colour strong, and should you wish to maintain your permanent cosmetics a colour boost is recommended every 12-18 months.
Will I need a consultation?
Clients will require a consultation before booking in for a treatment. The consultation is free and will be in two parts. Firstly I will send a consultation pack including a sensitivity patch test, medical health form and pre-treatment advice form to you to be completed at least 24 hours prior to the treatment. The second part of the consultation will take place in my treatment room where we will draw and design the shape and select the pigment colour in order to create a treatment to meet your expectations. I advise to book in for your consultation and treatment at the same time, so if you are happy with the design drawn, we can continue with the treatment. However there is no obligation to go forward after the consultation.
What to expect during the procedure?
After we have completed the consultation and decided on a design you are happy with the treatment will start. Treatment time varies depending on the amount of work to be done and the treatment area we are working on. The sensation during the treatment varies from client to client and is also dependant on the area we are working on. Before and during the treatment I will use a topical anaesthetic cream to make the experience as comfortable as possible. When we have finished I will provide and go through an aftercare sheet with you and will be at the end of the phone to answer any questions you have post treatment.
What can I expect after the treatment?
You may experience some redness and swelling in the treated area, this should not last long but will differ between clients. The pigment will initially be darker in your skin, fading by up to 50% during the healing process, so do not be alarmed if the treatment is more dramatic than desired at first. During the next 4-6 weeks the colour will soften and possibly fade out all together before resurfacing in the skin with the final end result.
